Every Friday, EIE participates in different
volunteer programs throughout Israel. This week we went to an organic farm
where we helped move and remove rocks in a garden. This farm was very
motivating because they mostly employee teenagers who haven’t completed high
school. The farm then offers jobs and an education in agriculture to the
teenagers. After the trip to the farm, Naomi Ramo-Gisser and I got into a taxi
to go to Inbal’s house (Inbal is our friend from camp). Our taxi driver’s name was Yossi and he was hilarious!
As soon as we got on the high way he rolled down the windows and blasted Mama
Mia the whole way to Netanya, which is an hour and fifteen-minute drive from
Tzuba. We finally got to Inbal’s house and I was so excited that I jumped out
of the cab and gave her the biggest hug! I have known Inbal since my second
summer at camp, which was eight years ago, and I finally got to meet her best
friend Kamie who I have heard so many stories about! Then we all sat down for a beautiful Shabbat
dinner myself, Naomi, Inbal, Kamie, Gidon (Inbal’s older brother), Edan
(Inbal’s younger brother), Mimi (Inbal’s mom) and Itzik (Inbal’s dad). Naomi
and I were so tired we crashed at 12:30. On Saturday we had a nice long sleep
in until 11:00 and when we finally got up we went to the BEACH!!!! Although it
was not warm enough to go into the water it was warm enough to be there! At
6:00 the taxi came to bring us back to Tzuba. Unfortunately, the ride was not
as fun there was no Mama Mia and it was a different taxi driver that was rude
and his car reeked of smoke. We finally
got back and did Havdallah with the group lead by Hannah Frayman that made me
think of NFTY-NEL! It was just an amazing weekend being able to get out of the
bubble of the kibbutz was really nice!
